IN-BETWEEN WORLDS

When my daughter died unexpectedly in September 2021,  my emotions completely froze in shock, grief, sadness, anger, horror and disbelief. I still experience these emotions much of the time. and I know this will continue for the remainder of my life. I am beginning to accept, recognize and believe in signs of her presence in my world everyday now instead of focusing on the anguish I feel daily because she is not here with me. I do believe she IS here, just not in the same ways she was for over 40 years.

I believe that I have received communications  from my daughter. For example,  it seems that messages have come to me clearly through lyrics in music more than once. At times,  my response has been instant laughter, because from what I am hearing, seeing or feeling, I have no doubt it has to be Kim. Then, as with most people, I imagine, my intellect gets too busy dissecting everything and I plunge back into sorrow.

We lived in New Mexico for many years and part of the draw for me was the vast array of native cultures, traditions, food, arts and spiritual beliefs. There was a beautiful print I saw at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque a few years ago that resonated 100% with me.

In most of the pueblo languages, there is no word for goodbye. Pueblo people believe in the cyclical nature of existence and believe we will meet our loved ones again, whether in the near future or in a time far off.
